Wolf and Clay
Project: Website Remodel
Johanna was planning to diversify her business from only offering handmade clay earrings, to running ceramic workshops.
Her DIY website had huge amounts of empty space with an inconsistent layout she was unhappy with.

We'd crossed paths through a hobby socials page before I started my business. When I did, Johanna started following and was an early supporter.
Before
Unfortunately I didn't take full size pictures of Johanna's website before starting. However, the images below show the text on two pages of her website. The rest of the page was white space with a picture, or a few products only.

Johanna needed to stagger her website rollout to fit her budget at the time. Working in smaller projects, I prioritised the website rebuild first to:
• separate the workshops from the handmade offerings,
• create a Brand Guide,
• remove major design issues, and
• list her business and website on Google.

Next, I rewrote her Home, About, and Wholesale pages with relevant SEO and design. I also created:
• an email list, and
• designed an automated workshop downloadable to streamline her communications.

Finally, her product copy as well as the FAQ, Policies and Contact pages were redeveloped to finish the project.

Wolf & Clay's workshops have expanded to offering 5 different workshops, across two locations as well as mobile workshops. This business diversification and marketing strategy has transformed the business with significant returns.

Johanna and I have continued to work together across numerous projects including creating marketing materials for her business; redrawing her logo because she only had one copy with a white background; supporting her with her wholesale website; and much more.

Johanna reflects, "Sarah, I am truly grateful our paths have crossed and I finally found someone that brings my website to life with your wonderful words and all your design ideas. Thank you so much for your hard work. You are amazing!"

Project Objectives:
-
Remodel Johanna's website to be more functional, modern, and reflect her new offerings.
-
Get her website indexed on Google, as it wasn't previously showing up.

Subsequent projects included:
-
Redrawing her existing logo, so that she'd have the flexibility she needed. Johanna had originally paid someone on a freelance platform but the logo had only been provided on a white background, limiting her design options. She didn't want to rebrand, but needed it in more versatile file formats.
-
Flyers and brochures for various offers, as she has an in-person presence as well as online.
-
Uploading products and new offers to her website whenever she has them.
-
Social media posts for special offers.
-
Updating her wholesale inventory on Faire.
-
Email marketing.
